Anionic polyacrylamide can adjust the fluidity of drilling fluid, lubricate the drill bit, reduce equipment wear, reduce sticking accidents in drilling, carry cuttings, make the well wall regular, prevent lost circulation and collapse, and improve the drilling speed.

Oilfield water is a common problem in oil exploitation at present. Water-soluble polymers represented by anionic polyacrylamide are the most widely used water blocking materials. Adding a cross-linking agent to a certain concentration of anionic polyacrylamide solution, the high-valent metal ions in the cross-linking agent form a polynuclear hydroxyl bridge complex ion to form a coordination bond with the hydroxyl group or amide group in the anionic polyacrylamide.

The fracturing process is an important measure to stimulate the production of tight layers in oilfields. Its function is to open the channel of the rock, allowing the oil to pass through. The fracturing fluid cross-linked by anionic polyacrylamide has high viscosity, low friction, simple formula, convenient use and low cost. Anionic polyacrylamide is widely used in oilfields.
